Coupon not being applied

I have done a coupon with this info:

Coupon Name :: testing
Coupon Amount :: 50.0000%
Start Date :: 09/17/2006
End Date :: 09/17/2007
Uses per Coupon :: Unlimited
Uses per Customer :: Unlimited
Valid Product List :: NONE
Valid Categories List :: Restrictions Apply
Date Created :: 09/17/2006
Date Modified :: 09/17/2006

I allowed one category, a manufacturer subcategory which is the master category for one of the products in the cart and then I have another item in the cart which is not in the allowed category. It is applying no discount at all, but it tells me I've redeemed the coupon and shows the code on my checkout page.

I do NOT have free shipping checked. Any ideas?

Okay, apparently, the minimum order has to be of the allowed products, not just the whole order...it would be really nice, then, if it showed an error instead of saying the coupon had been applied... :)
