Idea or Suggestion Some things for consideration (please)

I now have my site up and running and have made some sales so very pleased.

All this said there are a few things that are limiting my enthusiasm for Zencart use in Australia.

    1) Kg v Lbs Now I have made the change to the files so mine says Kg and not Lbs but could this be an option in the admin console. Europe and Asia mostly use metric and an option would be great rather than a search and destroy method.

    2) AUSPost: Please, please, please integrate this into the main code as it is a fairly standard requirement for ALL users in Australia.

    3) Could we maybe have a dedicated 'Australia Support' (or for that matter a country class?) questions part of the forum?

    4) Would anyone like to start a ZenCart Australia Forum somewhere? I could help out with this and it might help increase take-up/solve problems.

Thanks for the sterling (or dollar perhaps I should say) work the developers all perform.

    Alfo,

love the idea of an Aussie support forum! I am very new to all of this and trying to get my head around gst for aussie but not anyone else, shipping costs, etc is a nightmare. It would be awesome to have a dedicated forum where we could go into to find exactly what we need.

    Hi ALFO & skinessence,

I would also like to be involved in an Aussie support forum, great idea!

I have gotten most things to work correctly at my site and am very happy with it. If someone else can benefit from my [small amount of] experience, I would be happy to help.

I would like to know which couriers other Australian sites are using to determine which one offers the best service/price.

    Regards
    Stuart

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

There is Skippy Post which at present only deals with shipping internationally, but will be looking at domestic soon www.skippypost.com.au

and Fast ways seem good, but I don't make enough yet to use them.

I think instead of making Aust Post an option, it would be great if there was an Australia specific cart that could be downloaded from a mirror site.

Just as an aside, I own a forum which is dedicated to helping people start an online business and may not have a clue what they need to know. It has sections on shopping carts, but also regulations in Australia and other aspects of business. www.biznext.org

I'd be keen to set up and host a zen-cart forum site for Australians. I've read the conditions on how to become an international support site - the only thing I don't have is a domain name, unless I create a subdomain of my webpage, bbwebbiz.com.

I'm just wondering whether there is a demand for an Australian forum. I know it would come in handy for shipping modules.
