I just found out that it was fixed. My ISP offers a choice between 2 versions of pHp 4.4.0 and 5.1.2. When I first started having the problem, I tried to see what the diferences between installations that worked and did not work. When I set up the wine-lights.com domain I selected version 5.1.2 (previous installations used 4.4.0) I heard that there were some issues with 5.1.2 so I changed back to 4.4.0. My ISP claims that is what broke the installation. They kept telling me I was not installing the applic######## correctly, but after 2 subsequent installations on the server they looked into it. They said "We finally figured out the problem. You had previously asked us to configure the SSL page as PHP5. You have reset the wine-lights.com domain to PHP4. When you did this, the settings did not take to the SSL site.
We have manually set the SSL site back to PHP4, and it appears to be working properly."
