Sort By Mfgs on Products All Listing

I'm new here to Zen-Cart, but have been reading like crazy to get familiar and have learned a lot from everyone. I haven't found anything even close to this in my searching so hopefully someone can help. I would like to exchange the drop down sort menu that currently appears at the top (v1.3.5) when you select "All Products" and replace it with Search By Manufacturer, or is there a way to add that to the existing search list in the current drop down menu.

I am not a programmer, but can usually work through making minor changes to existing code if pointed in the right direction. I know there is a side box for this, but I wasn't sure how I could adapt that for my needs.

Thank you for the great product. I had an osC site sometime back that I built and I'm so glad I found Zen-Cart when I decided to build a new site. you guys have done a super job.

On the Product Listing you could acheive that by having the manufacturer in the listing and using its sort order as the default ...

For New Products, Featured Products and All Products Listings ... that isn't a built in option ...

You could customize in your templates and overrides the:
tpl_modules_listing_display_order.php

But there is not a setting except in the code that you can control for the:
$disp_order_default

So you may be getting into a bit of a mess here ... depends on your coding skills ...
