    Default Can't upload images

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure why my category or product pictures won't upload. No matter what I try I always get the no-picture.gif.
I am using the latest version of Zencart, MYSQL on Yahoo Host

    So far I have tried;
changing the sizes/formats/colour depths of the image
All my files in Images are CHMOD 777
    My Image is CHMOD 777
I have ftp the image and tried to enter the link manually but that doesn't work either.
I have tried dropping the database, deleting the zencart and starting all over 3 times . Nothing works.

Any help is appreciated because I want to get this site going.

Do you have a link to the site, and can you tell us the path name or names in which you are putting the images?

I am having the same problem. I had an older version of Zencart installed and---thanks to a problem with yahoo, ick---had to delete the entire thing and start from scratch. I now have the newest version of zencart, and everything works like a dream...except when I go to upload product images, I get nothing but the default no image available pic that comes with zen. My images directory and all subdirectories are chmoded 777 and I too am using yahoo as a webhost. I do not, by the way, have problems with images anywhere else---the pictures in my header etc display just fine, it is only the product images which create a problem. Help! The address of my zencart, if that would help, is http://sugarnspicegoodies.com/shop

I have to ask - are you all installing this into a cgi-bin ?

The reason I ask is cuz I clicked the link in the last post and I get this :

The page you are looking for, /bin/fcgi-php/shop/zc_install/index.php, couldn't be found on this server. There could be a lot of reasons for this---you may have typed the page name wrong, the page may be temporarily down for maintenance, or various other things.

Mine is installed in a subdirectory called "shop". I don't even have a cgi-bin. I finally, after reading every post i could find on this topic, deleted the entire directory and tried uploading and re-installing the cart---didn't fix the problem, either---so you probably clicked on the link while I was in the process of deleting everything.

Since I posted awhile ago, I have deleted the entire directory and reinstalled everything, no workie. I also have the issue of not being able to upload sql patches through the admin. I can paste the code and things work fine, but they won't upload. So it appears that anything that has to be uploaded from my computer through the admin doesn't work.

Again, this is a brand-new install of the newest version of zencart. I have made absolutely NO changes whatsoever to it. The link, again---and I am through deleting and reinstalling stuff, so it should work---is http://sugarnspicegoodies.com/shop

I am having EXACTLY the same problems as riverofdreams and am in the process of reinstalling the program again...for the 3rd time. There is no cgi-bin needed on Yahoo although they do say to change all .cgi extentions to .pl! I have tried this too but it still doesn;t work. Would it have something to do with the hta access since Yahoo doesn;t support it? I will have it reinstalled tonight and the address is www.orendaflutes.com/zencart All of the pics in the original files for the categories and products (clipart) show up but nothing new uploads. I have tried (did I mention this) resizing the pics, changing the formats, compressing them..and everything else I could fins. I have also searched high and low for the answers.

It might be as you say the .htaccess though I am not positive. I haven't ever used Yahoo hosting (I personally wouldn't use Yahoo anything but that's another topic all together)

I would try removing / renaming the htaccess file and see if it helps, since it certainly couldn't hurt....

Now that you mention it Tina, I think that is what I had to do to get oscommerce going so I'll try it and let you know.

Also, could you recommend a good, reasonable provider? I am a newbie and the companies are overwheling to try to figure out. The ONLY reason I used Yahoo is because I figured that they wouldn't go out of business anytime soon. However, with the support they provide (I couldn;t remove subs from my web abd it took them 4 techs sending emails and 2/12/ weeks to tell me that I had Frontpage active and couldn't do anything until I deactivated it....then, I still couldn't remove the files without my ftp program....not from the Yahoo File manager! Still can't). So now I am really frustrated and looking to move. If it is within your bounds, please help

    Re: Can't upload images

I am beginning to think this may be a yahoo problem. I would, however, still appreciate any help anyone might offer since yahell's tech support is worse than useless, from my experience.

Something I didn't think to mention last night---I was so frustrated that I was ready to bang my head on the wall---is that I did have the last version of zencart installed on my site and it worked fine for a month or so except for one little glitch in the 'contact us' email. Worked wonderfully, I was very pleased with it.

Then yahoo attacked, lol. I activated Frontpage extensions and all my php scripts quit working. I deactivated them and it didn't fix it. After spending a total of about 6 hours on the phone with yahell tech support someone finally told me I needed to delete every single file in my domain and start totally over from scratch in order for Frontpage and the damage it did to be completely wiped out. I did. Then I installed the most current version of Zencart and had the no-image problem.

I thought about this last night, the older version working fine till frontpage, and I decided to install it in a different directory from the new version and see if it worked, since it worked fine before. And it now has the same problem of not uploading images or sql patches.

Does this sound like a yahoo problem? Could it be something in my compute, since it seems to be tied to uploading stuff from my own hard drive? I'm at my wits end.
