Default Downloading e-books with Zen Cart

    Hey all,

I set up everything in Attributes Controller to have ebooks available for download from our store. However, the first person to purchase one of these ebooks has sent me a message requesting information on how to get their book.

Aren't they given a link to go to that is good for X number of days and/or X downloads when they make the purchase? Is that something I need to do? If so, how?

Any and all information would be helpful to figure this out.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer-

If you have the payment status set to processing or pending, I believe you have to approve the payment before they will be allowed to download - though I could be wrong on that - it's been a while since I set up a download in a zen.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,

It looks like the order was set as Processing, which I changed to Update (I didn't see a specific "Approved" button).

It didn't give me any sort of confirmation that the customer will now receive his download link. Am I capable of getting that confirmation to be on the safe side? Is there anywhere I can go to check the status to see if he's attempted to download the product, if the order has been completed, and so forth?

My main concern is that I'll believe everything is fine on my end until I receive a less than pleased email from a customer.

    Thanks again,

    Jennifer-

If you go to your admin area Customers/Orders and set the order to processed - it should give you the option to notify the customer.

It should also send them the link to download the product at that point also.

    Snazzy,

My soon-to-be-last question: I noticed that there is a Downloads Manager that gives a list of information, but doesn't show any downloads in progress. What exactly does the Downloads Manager keep track off? Will it show the downloads that are going on, need to be approved, etc?

    You've been a great help thus far : )

At this time its purpose it to tell you at a glance if the Download files have been added to the site and if they are spelled right on the Attributes ... hence the green dot vs the red dot ...
