Hide Column Left doesn't work?

When configuring our latest store, I wanted to use the HIDE LEFT COLUMN feature to hide the left column if a cusotmer has not been authorized.

So, I have that set to true on the customer details configuration screen. Shop and approval status are both set to 2.

So, what else do I have to set to have this work? This is the current ZEN cart, unmodified.

Does anyone have this turned on and it is working using the current 1.3.5 version?

Can someone turn it on, maybe on their test site, and tell me it works or does not for them?

Again, current version only, don't care if some previous version worked.

`Customer Authorization: Hide Column Left true

Left column still shows. I didn't even know that feature existed, but the combos that I tried... all failed.
