Buttons do not display in admin

While I'm doing configurations, the button gui or image does not display. It displays an x and the label name inside of a rectangle. Sometimes its confusing because It makes it hard to understand what exactly the button is for.

Do you have images placed in the admin\images directory?

yes I do, I checked several times and even played around with setting the different permissions.

Right click on this image and let us know the path it is looking for

Seems like you are blocking images in the .htaccess file
Can you post that too?
