How do I set up free downloads?

I hate to start a new thread about this, but I can't find anything that helps me set up free downloads that works. I am building a store, but I also want to offer free videos and music clips from the store at no cost, downloadable straight from the store site. When I set it up by the available directions on the forum and/or by experimenting with it, I cannot get it to allow access to the file from the shopping cart- it carries me to the shipping address page and no further.... I even tried to put 2 different links to the file in the description of the product, but it will not allow access even from there to the file. I, being a newbie, just don't get something. I am sure that it is just me, that I have to be just overlooking something... but what? If someone could help me, it would certainly be appreciated by me and quite a few others, from what I have seen on this forum in the past few weeks of looking.

Try zipping them and placing in the downloads folder and in the product setup reference this zip name as the download file

Do what Kobra suggested i.e. place file in zip, add to download folder
Set up item in products, and select product is free, plus cost is 0.00
Then go via admin to modules/payment, and activate
Zen Free Charge Card
Then set up download attribute for each download/item/product,
you wish to be free of charge, entering exact name of zip file for specific item.

Thanx to Kobra and Misty for their prompt reply to my post. Also thanx to stbede77 for the info on setting up downloads. You can be sure that we will be donating moneys to the ZenCart team and project for all the friendly help on setting up our store, as it gives us a chance to be 'aware' of the different parts of the store and it's workings, instead of paying someone large fees to 'run' our store for us.
