It is currently used only for generating the audience pulldown lists in the admin when sending emails/newsletters to specific groups of people.
What were you wanting to do with it, in more detail?

Well what I was thinking. for those with a little skill with SQL.
Perhaps we can store queries within this table to list different
kinds of products.
Eg. Lets say someone is looking at a product
display for IPOD, we can generate a link to query this stored query table
to show a "You might also be interested in"... where we then
point to a query that we wrote.. ID no. xxx where we store a SQL query
to IPOD accessories or other related products... like headhones.. multimedia
speakers.. etc...
Cheers,
Deddy

The Cross-Sell contribution allows you to do this sort of thing site-wide.
You can find it in the Downloads section.

This is about the only decent post I could find on what this table was for, no instructions or anything else. I found the small blurb about it in the wiki part of the site.
I too was wondering where (and how) to store and then be able to run custom queries. For example today I had to run a report against orders to find out all customers who had placed orders since the site started (3 1/2 years ago) and find out if their orders have been changed to a status of shipped. I knew how to make the query, but wanted to save it for future reference so my customers could run it themselves.
Will there be something like this capability in a future release?
