Default Linkpoint/Yourpay issue (Connect vs API)

Hello all. I'm having an issue with my linkpoint/yourpay connect module. I installed the module that I downloaded from here so that my shopping cart could communicate with my yourpay connect account, but I receive a "unable to contact the Credit Card company for authorization" message.

Now, after looking at the module information in Zencart I noticed it said 'linkpoint api' as opposed to connect. I sure do hope I didn't install the wrong module, but then again I don't see any other module to install.

Perhaps someone could run down the possible reasons for me? And, to be honest, for all I know I haven't set something right on the yourpay side of the battle either. I'd appreciate any help given.

    Thanks.

The module for Zen Cart is specifically for the "API" mode, and is not designed for their "Connect" service.

So, would I be correct in understanding then that I'll have to find another shopping cart that better serves the functions I require (IE: compatibility with Yourpay connect)?

Is there a huge cost-difference between the two?

From my understanding, the API method is more secure, and is a much nicer shopping experience for the customer, since they will stay "on" your website and not have to be transferred to the Yourpay server for payment, and then come back again.

It's not a matter of cost. From what I understood when I was researching the matter Linkpoint API is only for those with a secure web server, as the customer's pertinent information is taken on your server rather than on yourpay's. So, as I do not have a secure web server, it's just not reasonable for me to consider that. Unless, of course, I'm wrong and you know something I do not, which is entirely possible.

    You're correct.
If you want your customer to stay on your site and provide their payment details for direct processing, you'll need a secure site. You would need to purchase an SSL certificate for that, or use a shared certificate provided by your hosting company.
This really is the best way.

If you wish your customers' payment details to be collected by a third party, you'd have to use the Connect service or another similar option where the customer leaves your site for payment and returns when payment is complete.
You should still secure your site with an SSL certificate, because you will be storing customers' name/address/phone information and their buying history. This information is technically just as sensitive as payment details, depending on how you look at it.

SSL certificates are not all that expensive; shared certificates may already be offered by your hosting company at nominal or no addditional cost.

If you are needing hosting services designed for eCommerce purposes and are fast, reliable and professional, but don't break the bank, click on the "Certified Hosts" link at the top of this page for some recommendations.

Alright. I've switched to API, and all is well on that end. Moving on; I downloaded my pem file and put it in includes/modules/payment/linkpoint API. I setup the module in Zencart it's self, and entered my store ID number. However, I'm still getting a "unable to contact the Credit Card company for authorization" message. What haven't I done?

    Thanks.

Is port 1129 open on your host. If not then you need to get port 1129 open for the API to contact link point.

My client is having the same troubles and I'm wondering if this might be it. What do I ask her host to look for?
