and that cURL is installed and the path to cURL if its changed from normal

I checked our hosts setup:

1. port 1129 is open
2. cURL is installed
3. I just set up SSL

v1.3.7 will be published shortly -- the linkpoint module has been updated slightly and now has a debug/log feature that will help figure out better what is happening in these cases.

You'll need to upgrade your site, and then remove+re-install the Linkpoint module via the Admin->Modules->Payment page (write down your settings first so you can easily re-enter them). Then in the module settings, set the new Debug mode to Log File or to Log and Email, and you'll be able to see better what's happening.
