Does that mean that the shipping prices for the various options in usps show for you? Or something else? Also, I just upgraded to the newest version of zencart (patting myself on the back for apparrantly doing the overrides correctly, cause all my mods still seem to work, woohoo) and I still have the issue on the checkout page. I don't, however, have the error on the admin page anymore.
Here are my admin settings, except for my username, which I have checked and double-checked to make sure I don't have a typo:

Ok, this is really wierd and I am even MORE clueless than before---suddenly the usps is working, after all this time of no working, when I have done nothing. Go figure. I have changed no settings, changed no code, and it still didn't work after I upgraded. Bizarre. But I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth and all that, I'm just thrilled it's finally working right.

OK. I'm still having trouble. I went to the host and had them look to see if something was being blocked and they said all is fine. So I guess what I'm goign to do now is re-upload all the shipping module files and see if that helps. Are they all in includes\modules\shipping or are there other files that hold some of the configuration that I need to replace as well?
I hope this works because after that I'm left with reinstalling the enitre cart. Unless anyone can come up with anything else.

Ok, this is driving me insane. I took a break from the shop and didn't touch anything yesterday, didn't so much as look at it. Today I started to work on stuff and...I get the same usps error message I was getting before. What is going on here? Any clue?
Sounds like a communication issue with the USPS server ...
What shipping modules are actually installed right now?
Are the only shipping modules installed actually on? As in do not install any that you manually turned off after installing ...

I am having the same issue too. The shipping is not working on both of my sites. They were previously working for over a year now so they are in production. I have resinstalled the module and set the debugging. The email just talks about what you can ship. Here's an example.
(You can turn off this debug email by editing your USPS module settings in the admin area of your store.)

I installed the Jan 11 patch and the rates are working but now I get this error in the shopping cart.
-2147218052 - The ounces field must be less than 5 digits
