Unfortunately, I see nothing about your site to account for this issue ...

Other than being on an overloaded server with your hosting company, I really don't see why it is this slow ...

What version Zen Cart is this?

Can you look in the Admin ... Tools ... Server Info ...

Does it tell you the Server Up Time?

Was it just recently rebooted as in a current date and time?

It was horribly slow a couple minutes ago and now is moving ...

The version 1.3.0.1.

Server up time is blank.

I have applied several patches, notably column_layout_grid_for_product_listing_1.3.0, how_did_you_hear_about_us_1.3.1, products_with_attributes_stock and short_desc_1_2_3. Other than that all I have done with the templates is cosmetic.

NOTE: the current version is Zen Cart v1.3.5 ... you may wish to get upgraded ...

Speak to your hosting site about the slow downs on your server and see if they are able to move you to a less bogged down or overloaded server than the one you are on ...
