changing index.php to store.php

It seems that I can only install a store as index.php which limits me to how my customers can layout there site as my servers default to the index.php file, Is there any way to create teh stores as store.php or ##########_.php so that my options are open?

Can you not change that default index.php to index.html? (not the zencart index.php)
as me thinks you will incur problems altering zencart index.php
to store.php
