Shipping price per kg help pls

I need to add a shipping cost of $5 per kg for my products. In the attributes of products I have specified the kg weight. I just need zen to add this per kg price to the product upon checkout. I can't figure out how to make zen do this, can anyone help?

Maybe I am not being clear. I will try and reword this.

1 My shipping price has to be calculated from the customers carts total weight

2 My flat rate for shipping is $5/kg

3 I have specified my products weights

What is the next step to get zen cart to calculate the shipping from the total weight in the shopping cart at $5/kg?

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

In v1.3.5, you have a Per-Unit shippng module available:
Admin->Modules->Shipping->Per Unit (perweightunit).
