Item in two categories, how to stop it appearing twice in 'new products'?

Self explanatory header I think.

I've put the same painting in two categories, and therefore it appears twice in the 'new products for October' bit.

Anyone know how to stop this happening. I'd have search but the search terms seem very wide, and these forums are just sooooooo huge to wade through.

Is this item IDENTICAL between the 2 categories?

If so, why don't you "link" ONE product to TWO categories instead?

1. choose one to be the "master".
2. delete the other one
3. go back to the "master", click the little "c" on the button bar
4. choose "link" instead of "duplicate", and select the 2nd category

Now you have "one" product that will show in two places. Note that putting it on special will now put it on special in both places at the same time, etc.
