How do I modify global layout boxes setting?

Sorry, if this question has been answered elsewhere, if so, clue me in.

The single column setting is wicked confusing. It took me over an hour to figure out the purpose of the single column setting. I tried experimenting, the wiki and the forum.

I've concluded that the Single Column options in the Edit Box are used to control the header search form, and irrelevant in every other instance. I've gone to a left column display and turned off the header search, the wrapper on my site has search, for the cart I'll put search in the sidebar.

Finally... here's my question. Where do I modify the edit box? I want to use strikeout on the Single Column option to communicate the uselessness of this option to my users.

ZenCart allows you to set up a site as 3 column, 2 column, or single column.

This is the usefulness of the single coulmn settings...correct that if you do not set your site up as a single column site then they are not required, but also if you set it as a 2 column left or 2 column right, then the right or left has no use.

Changing this admin function has little value to the shopper as they never see this side of the store.

I thought I asked a simple question. Your response offers no insight, just a "huh?" Apparently, my question was vague too. My users are store owners. I'm a web developer.

I applied the patch referenced above to 1.3.5 which enables me to save my sidebox layouts. Very useful. What a drag that this is so hard to dig up in the forum.

I was just attempting to point out why it is included as your determination was a bit flawed I think.

You might have stated that you are a developer and trying to make the admin a bit simpler for your clients???

I found that after our earlier discussion. I believe that's what I installed. Enables me to import/export layout profiles. At this point I've stumbled across and resolved several bugs, and built a web site configurator based on Zencart. I love the result. Will contribute back to the project as I begin to sell bostonwebcrew projects with zencart.

Also enabled fckeditor, the copy that I built. Took the fckeditor plugin from the link you referenced. FCKeditor is really a pain with Zencart. I think htmlarea should be voted off the island and the implementation of zencart should be standardized so you don't have to comb through a fistful of files to make it work.

In particular I'm thinking of the locations where fckeditor is used in an iframe. I believe I had to just amputate those pieces of code.

It should be safe to assume that anyone who wants to use fckeditor can install it themselves. Making it plug and play would be so much easier. What this has to do with layout controller boxes, I don't know.
