My cart not generating order confirmation

Hi Gurus

Wondering if someone might have a suggestion for a perplexing problem.

I have ver 1.3.0.1 installed and running perfectly since May. My server recently had issues with their firewall and did a roll back, since then order confirmation emails for purchased products are not generated by my cart. Order confirmations are generated and sent if the product is free but not if purchased via paypal. Paypal is working fine and orders are in admin.

I have email archive installed and the order confimations are not showing so I can't resend. There are no issues with other emails they are all generated and sent.

No settings have changed in my cart and paypal settings have not changed.

Any thoughts or ideas of what I could try to fix this would be most appreciated.

I'd encourage you to update to Zen Cart v1.3.5 and then uninstall/reinstall PayPal and configure it ...

Thanks Ajeh, I just knew you were going to suggest that....hehe! And I will, I promise!

I thought it might have something to do with the PayPal module and the server roll back, just very hesitant to uninstall paypal in case it screws up the live site!

I always do a test upgrade to prevent horror stories ...

/new_shop

Copy of Live Site into /new_shop

New database ...

Copy of Live Shop database into new database ...

Update configure.php files to new path and new database

Upgrade /new_shop with new database ...

Test test test ...

When perfect ... empty tables of NEW database ...

Down for Maintenance Live Shop ...

Backup Live Database again and load to /new_shop database

Upgrade database again ...

Test Test Test

If perfect ...

Move Live Shop to /old_shop

Edit paths in /new_shop configure.php files DO NOT change database ... new database is now the REAL database ...

Move/rename /new_shop to Live Site path ...

Test Test Test ...

Turn off Down for Maintenance ...

Here is an update on progress!

I did as Ajeh suggested and upgraded to 1.3.5 (I must be getting good it was too easy).
Using a new db and dummy product I tested paypal, transaction completed and emails were received from paypal and my cart, cart email also in email archive (doh)....yahoo!

Deleted db and started again with a copy of live shop db, tested paypal and emails received from paypal but not my cart.

Read wiki for destructions on paypal. Uninstalled and reinstalled paypal mod but still the same result, emails from paypal, but not from my cart and nothing in email archive.

Correct me if I am wrong (and I probably am) would this indicate a db problem....as my cart works fine with a fresh db. The live shop db was checked and repaired through my server control panel but the email result was still the same.

As I know nothing about mysql, please could I have helpful suggestions on what to try. It would be very much appreciated.

Further update......still playing with liveshop backup

In mysql, I emptied the paypal and paypal sessions tables, uninstalled and reinstalled the paypal mod in shop admin. This seems to have fixed half the problem, information is now being stored in the paypal tables (this wasn't happening from the time the email problem started), but still no email from the shop.

Would someone have any clues as to which tables I could look at and play with next, pretty please?

From the PayPal troubleshooting guide:

12.Turn on PayPal debug logging by activating the setting in the PayPal module in Admin->Modules->Payment. You'll need to check to be sure that your /includes/modules/payment/paypal/logs folder is marked read/write (chmod 777). Then use your FTP program to access/view those logs to see what the cause of errors may be.
