My webstore went down

my store had been working, but today I got this message when I went to the URL:

There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.


It's been like this most of the day today. Is there something I can do to fix this? Does this happen often? I've only been using the zencart since thursday.
