Can search results show manufacturer THEN A-Z with it?

Hi team,

Can 'search results' display manufacturer THEN A-Z within it?

I have a lot of products from my company and others too. I want to have the search results group the manufactures in a special sort order that I can pre-determine and within that, show it A-Z by item name.

With my current model number usage, the other companies always come up on top first. I need to find a way around that.

I know you can have the search results come up with model number sort, item name sort etc, but not in the special manner described above.

Just an added thought....

It's not really manufacturer that I want to pre-determine the sort...

It's Categories.

There is a setting to turn on the alpha filter ...

Configuration ... Product Listing ...

Include Product Listing Alpha Sorter Dropdown

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but thought it better than starting a new one.

I'm having some newbie problems with trying to display the Manufacturer Filter instead of the A-Z one. I only have one Manufacturer in my cart (1.3.5)

What am I doing wrong.

Hi again Linda,

Yeah I tried a 1.3.7; installation was terribly slow and once installed kept receiving 0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED for Admin (Shop was OK), after the default 30secs.

1.3.5 installed fine, admin fine

Environment:
Server OS: Linux 2.6.18-1.2257.fc5
Database: MySQL 5.0.27
PHP Version: 5.1.6 (Zend: 2.1.0)
