Top Banner Has Gap Below in IE, not in Firefox

If you're able, view the following in IE and Firefox (or like Mozilla).

You'll note that the top banner is flush with the gray "thetabletop" bar in Firefox but a gap appears in IE. Can anyone figure out why?

Gap=Bad!

I should amend this:

The space appears within the header, not before the main page.

There are two tables flush with each other. I can't find any reason for the space.

remove

<br class="clearBoth" /> in tpl_header.php

it comes 2 times in header
