Default Bizarre admin behaviour: changes not appearing.

I just upgraded from 1.2.0 to 1.3.5, following the recommended steps. Roughly:
    - install new installation into new directory, and into new database
    - connect it to old database by changing configure.php
    - run installer again to upgrade old database.

The site looks fine from the user perspective - all the products are in the database, and it looks as expected.

Now, when I go to the admin pages, I don't see any products. Also there are a couple of weird problems which are probably related. Eg I can go into the module manager and turn boxes on and off, and the page as viewed by the users doesn't change. I can also go into the Layout manager and eg change the width of the left column, and this doesn't change either. If I make these changes directly to the database, with phpmyadmin then they appear as expected.

Is it possible that the admin pages are connecting to a different database? Is there another config file I need to change?

Is there another reason why the admin pages and shop pages would be out of sync?

    Perplexed ...

Are you sure when you upgraded that you updated both the:
    /includes/configure.php
    /admin/includes/configure.php

And that both have matching paths and databases?

    Grrrr.

That was it. The admin was connecting to the wrong database. I'd looked in the admin directory, but only found the configuration.php file which didn't seem to have anything to change. I didn't go further and look in the /admin/includes directory.

Damn, that confused me for about a day ... thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks for the update and glad that you located that the problem was with the settings in your /admin/includes/configure.php and referencing the wrong database ...
