HELP! Getting a category tree error!

    Hi,

I've just migrated my product database from Storefront to a new ZenCart install. The test products worked fine, but now i get:

"Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /hsphere/local/home/ellispia/musiciansbest.com/store/includes/classes/category_tree.php on line 68"

whenever i click on any product on the catalog site. i have treid several times to reupload the database, files, etc. to no avail. are there limits to # of catgories or products? anyone got ideas?

    my site is: http://www.musiciansbest.com/store

I get it too! it is when I have the sidebox document_categories.php turned on. When I turn it off, everything works fine.
I did not modify box. I doubled check the files were not corrupted
What I did just before, was moving a document from one category to another (but I cannot tell honestly if that caused the pb, since i was not testing the document_categories sidebox at this time).

Fatal error: Call to a member function MoveNext() on a non-object in C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\alternativeglobe\includes\classes\category_tree.php on line 68

hello! I got it today too! It is somehow linked to document-general "products"

..and stumbled on this thread looking for a better way to create my category specific documents.

the problem came about when i moved a new document-general item to another folder, and went away when i wanted to delete it.

which brings me to my query:
I want to have category/sub category specific documents/articles that only appear on when the relevant category is selected - i.e. if i am in a product listing for category teaspoons, then i can see articles about teaspoons and then if i move to category fork, i can see articles on forks.

i have created my top categories as limited to product-g and document-g. then i creat sub categories. IF i leave these subcategories open as both PG and DG then the documents end up in the product listing.
HOWEVER if i create a separate folder for DG only, then that category ends up in the category list.

    what have i missed?

and when adding restrictions what is the impact of with or without subcat?

Default Getting a category tree error! - document type workaround

so this is what I have now done.

I have 3 top categories for my store
    animal
    vegetable
    mineral

they are all now resrticed to PG

I now also have 3 top categories called
    animal articles
    vegetable articles
    mineral articles
and these are all restricted to DG.

this keeps the documents (which in my case are not sale items) separate from catalogue items...

it seems that any category flagged as document and product will appear in both 'menus'.

Categories marked as Product General or anything *except* Document General will be in the normal Categories sidebox ...

Categories marked as Document General ... and they can also be marked as Product General or anything else ... will appear in the Document sidebox because of the restriction for Document General being added to them ...

All products will list in the Product listing based on their category ...

New Products, Featured and Specials will just grab which ever Products regardless of Product type unless you customize them with exclusions ...

but it seems a category that is restricted to Document-General will still appear in the Category list

For Categories to show in the Document sidebox you would edit the Category and set:
This Category has been restricted to these Product Types
Document - Genera <--- this makes it show, and allows Document General Products to be added
Document - Product <--- this allows Product General Products to be added
