I have read and sure I overlooked this, so where do I make a product attribute such as Color a mandatory selection on a product?

Attribute controller with the product attribute loaded > at the bottom are several options as selectors - and look for "Default Attribute
to be Marked Selected:"

Also, to avoid confusion and overlooking this you can add a kind of blank attribute as "Please Choose" or some other title and make it "Use for display only" (attribute cannot be selected and added to cart. Good for things like "Select from Below" to force the customer to make their own choice and not just hit Add to Cart and get a pink snail instead of a blue snail.

Thanks that helped alot, I added "Please Select Color" to the Color attribute but cannot figure how to get it at the top of the colors in the option dropdown all other colors are sort 0.

With all set to zero they are alpha sorted I believe...

Add a numerical sort order value to each
