Overrides not working on Windows XP?

Hi All,
I'm using my windows xp professional computer to test zen-cart 1.3.5 before going live. I'm using EasyPHP as my php/apache package. I installed a fresh install with the demo store, successfully added my custom template and it's all working fine. However, I tried to override the following file but it doesn't work:

includes/languages/my_custom_template_33/english.php overrides
includes/languages/english.php

I've flushed the cache, restarted the browser but nothing seems to work. I notice this is also not working for other override files I added.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Check in the admin > tools > template selection > to insure that the "custom" template that you are creating is the active one.

You might need to edit the "custom" template_info.php file to name the template if you have not done so.

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure I've got the custom template working properly. I see all the custom template icons, colors and settings which are totally different from classic. I understand the override system so it's a mystery as to why my other files aren't being overriden.
Having searched the forum, I saw some posts about similar issues on Windows. Could windows be the problem? Could it be permissions?
My custom template is called my_custom_template_33.

These are frustrating problems aren't they? I must have helped on a couple of dozen of these over the past few months, but have yet to see one caused by a Windows or environment problem (and have a about 30 test environments running on a Windows XP platform myself).

Normally I can have a wander around the file structure on an errant site proding and poking and looking for anything odd, but that's obviously not the case here. However, if you're still having problems and are game, we can take this step-by-step.

Step 1: if you run your Zen Cart so that the home page is in your browser window, and then View > (Page) Source what is the path name to the stylesheet(s) being used (about 16-20 lines down)?

Hi Kuroi,
My apologies, I've found the problem. A beginner's mistake. My template was installed correctly as zc_custom_template but I was trying to override it using folder called zc_custom_templat. That missing e at the end made the world of difference :-) It's working perfectly now. Thanks for giving your time and attention to this.

I'm having a simialar problem with v1.3.6 on XP Pro w/ Localhost o/s is Xampp.
The OverRide worked fine on V1.3.5. I did a remove 1.3.5 and did a Full install w/V1.3.6, then re-created CUSTOM FOLDERS and I went to admin > tools > template selection > to insure that the "custom" template that I created was there. But No luck, it was the classic filders...
I double checked the permissions on the folders as Admin, then loged on as Administerators group. Still no custom templates...
Any Ideas that I have overlooked?

Thank U very much ... I did look at "How do I create a new Custom Template", I tried it, but I did not upload it to my test Site, Why U asked, LOL, I don't know why either ... just old Age.

Hi my problems is:

I make my custom_template and everything is ok BUT

I want to override the languages/english/meta_tags.php

I use this two files

languages/english/custom_template/meta_tags.php
and
languages/custom_template/meta_tags.php

to chage

define('TITLE', 'Zen Cart!');

with

define('TITLE', 'My Store');


but don´t work mi question is

1) Which one Should I use?
2) Why dont work?

ok the problem was the meta_tags.php file had a bad name
