Adding Progress Report for Customers

Hi there, first of all...thanks for your time guys!

This is my first time....

I would be selling customize clothing on line, let's say the customer will order a jacket to be made, and give me their sizes, then i will make it and ship it to them.
My question is: I would like to add some kinds of comments to each particular order, so my customers could log into their account and see the status, for example, i would leave message like, the jacket will be completed this friday, and ready to ship out on saturday.

Is there a way, i could do this? and how?
