New Template not showing.

hello,

i am very new so please bear with me. I installed a new template and set up the new files ,in admin as well. But my main page is just black there is nothing there. Did I miss an important file? Do i need to use the template override system? I started to use this but I wasn't sure whether i was supposed to keep creating new custom folders under classic or just copying toeach location that classic is at? I hope I worded this right. Also In the section where it requires a screenshot name would i put my folder name?

A bit more information,

What version of ZenCart?
What template did you install?
What is the path to this template?
Did you see it and change to this template in the admin?


From your post, it appears that you can access the admin with no problems.

You only need to create override folders with the same name as your template folder when you need to change/edit a file in a location.

And YES, this is allowed where ever there is a "Classis" folder present.

Do not create these override folders "Under" the Classic folder instead as your second statement defines - "to each location that classic is at".

Ok I am using version 1.3.0.1 , Its a custom template. I think if I'm understanding correctly that the path to the template is includes/templates/vpt2cat/images. Yes I changed it in the admin but this is what I came up with:


The requested URL /includes/templates/vpt2cat/images/vpt_frontpage_tablebkgr.gif, vpt_background.jpg, vpt_fronttemplate.htm. was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

And the screen is completely black http://www.veryprrettythings.com

I m not sure if I am missing files or am I wording them wrong?

Couple of things to try:

Can you switch back to the previous template in the admin?

Does it display OK.

Did this display OK before?

Looking at your site and selecting in the browser View > select all
this is what is displayed but you can not see it normally

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home2/araina/public_html/includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_header.php on line 71

Did you possibly edit this file as the unexpected ";" is not normal for a clean file.

In general this might indicate that this file is either corrupt or that whatever is on line 71 is not correct or there to find or??

You did not answer all the questions that I originally asked???

Check your tpl_header.php file at around line 71.

There is apparently something wrong in the code at that line in the file.

ok thanks everyone for your help. I went to the tpl_header.php file at around line 71 an I didn't change anything in there. What is the line supposed to look like? I looked around but I didnt see anything. Could something be wrong with the file I uploaded?

Also I changed it back to the original and it looks ok , it did before too. I'm not sure what to do here.
