    Default Zen Cart 'Switches'

As someone new to Zen Cart I am faced with a problem whereby I can't seem to find a switch to turn something off.

The problem - Take a category or product page and I can see how to edit the Title, Descriptive and Keyword Tag for that individual page, BUT - Why is it that when that page is live, apart from having the phrases and words applied via the meta tag editor for each page, the Title, Descriptive and Keyword tag info applied to the HOME/INDEX page also gets added to my category or product page.

For example on a product page I end up having
Title Product Name (followed by words phrases from HOME page Title
Descriptive - Product Description (followed by words phrases from Home Page Description
Keywords - Keywords for individual product page (followed by Keywords that were only meant to be on the HOME Page)

Having migrated from OSCommerce where I knew which file to amend I am not sure where I should be going in Zen Cart. Any help gratefully appreciated.

It's been awhile since I've played with ZC, but I think you simply have to go in and edit the appropriate lines in includes\languages\english\meta_tags.php (for instance, remove the contents of Custom_Keywords and leave the apostrophes in place).

Be sure to save the modified file in your template override folder... includes\languages\english\[your template name]\meta_tags.php

    HTH!

    Hi Becky

Thanks for replying to my thread, the path you provide to the file meta_tags.php is where I focused on. This file appears to focus on providing the Title, Descriptive and Keyword Tag for the 'main page'(INDEX) but I don't see any other switchable content within that file which would fix the problem.

I did initially try leaving out the content applied between the quotes and found that whilst it fixed my catalogue/product pages it now left the INDEX page without any tag detail. If I left out the keywords from the Custom Quotes as you suggest this weakens the INDEX page as it now has no keywords.

The other two tags in the meta_tags.php file still remain a problem also as the content within these quotes are still appearing in behind a catalogue/product page applied Title, Descriptive tag.

I am still of the opinion I am missing a switch within another php root file

Any further help or thoughts great appreciated

The meta tags are built in the file:
    /includes/modules/meta_tags.php

If you do not like how they are built, you can customize this file by copying it to your templates and overrides directory:
    /includes/modules/your_templates_dir/meta_tags.php

And writting it how you would like to see it work ...
