New Help with Zen Cart

I can not figure out how to change the logo and banner on the main page, or get rid of the Sponsor boxes on the sides. I have never used a text editor and it keeps referring to one for the logo, and other changes. I could not locate one in the program.

Also under show new products on my main page I have the option on 1 and it does not show up. I am so frustrated and would really appreciate any help. I have searched everywhere for more help and found the site demodemo.com, which was helpful to a point.
