    Default Very simple look....possible?

    Hi

I've installed ZC and spent a day playing around with the admin features and customising my own template from the default. Before I spend a week doing this though, I wanted to pass it by some one in the know and find out if I'm wasting my time before I begin.

I don't want any sideboxes at all.
I just want my categories on the top of my page under my logo using simple text menu's.
I want my pictures in the body of the page shown stacked vertically with my item descriptions next to them.
I want someone to be able to click on a picture and end up on a product page with an option to buy it.
I want a seperate check out page etc...

That's pretty much it. I'm asking because all the templates I've seen have sideboxes which is just too cluttered for my site. I'd end up with more sideboxes than I would products. But all the layout changes available in admin are sidebox related.

So I know I'll have to invest some time in figuring out how to customise properly and I'm happy to do that if what I want to do is possible in the first place. Or if anyone happens to know of a template that already has this layout, I'd be really grateful to hear about it.

Ideally what I'd really like is to just insert cart buttons into my existing web, but it doesn't seem like that's an option with ZC. Unfortunately paypal cart (which would do this) doesn't offer the coupon feature which I need. Yep isn't web development fun!

    Thanks in advance.

PS - what I know about PHP isn't worth knowing

    admin>configuration>layout settings

set Column Left Status - Global, and Column LRight Status - Global to 0

That will remove the left and right columns site wide.

What you want to do is easy as it would be basicallly a default cart with the columns removed. The product list is already default set to rows, so the stacking off the products is already there without any work, except maybe some tweaking.

Brilliant! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Now I can frustrate myself with other things.

Ok, so I've basically set it up. Just tweaking to go. That had to be the easiest template mod I've ever done. The only hard thing was remembering all the dirs where I'd edited files.

Oh course I could be speaking too soon since I haven't flightchecked it yet.

is this for just a shop or will it be added to a forum or cms?
