Default Can you Multiple with Attributes?

Hi Folks log time no see! I am getting back into the swing of things and I am wondering is it possible to multiply with Attributes? ie: subscriptions say are 29.95 a year and a customer can select upto 4 years I would like to be beale to multiply the subscription price by the number of years the pick. Since there will be many different subscriptions (1800) at varying prices I do not want to have to setup 4 options per subscription.

    Regards,

You could probably attack this in a couple different ways.

Shooting from my hip: I would create each subscription as a different product, and treat years as quantities.

Since you're not really going to run out of stock of subscriptions, you won't have to worry about inventory. Of course, this only works if you only allow subscriptions by the year--should you want to allow half year subscriptions or the like, you'd have to break it by the lowest common duration and do some multiplication magic.

Well if it wasn't for 1800 different magazines that may have been an option, but I need the attributes to be able to read the selling price and multiply it by the number of years the buyer selects.

Maybe I'm not understanding you properly; correct my mistakes:

You have 1800 magazines for which you're going to sell subscriptions. Each magazine has a different per-year subscription price. You wish to bill people for the number of years they choose times the subscription price of the magazine to which they are subscribing.

My solution would be to make each magazine a "product", make the per-year subscription price the "price" and make years the "quantity".

Please provide info on where I've misunderstood, and what you're trying to properly accomplish.
