Strange error message

My site has gone haywire, and i get an error message across the top of the screen if i access the url, or the admin panel. The mesage reads "Warning: session_save_path() [function.session-save-path]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/html/catalog/cache) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/ihgseing:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/ihgseing/public_html/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 145"

It would appear that something is attempting to call something in var/www/html/catalog/cache, yet i do not have such a folder. My store is in the root, so it is just a /.


Url is www.strelitzia.c0.uk (deliberately changed to a 0)

Any idea what is calling for what here??

It's totally screwed my site as all the css has gone crazy as well.

Hope someone can give me some help here.

You've got an incorrect path setting somewhere.

/var/www/html/catalog/cache << this is the incorrect path being used

/home/ihgseing/catalog/cache << this is the path that should be used

Check your: includes/config.php file, make sure settings are correct. Also check permissions on your 'cache' directory. If still not sure you should be able to get help from your Hoster.

Also, not sure if the above error is causing problems with your alignment, but it is definitely off-center.

But i don't see why there should be a reference to /catalog at all as my store is in /

I know the alignment is all over the place, so is the text size. It all happened at the same time. Host don't know what has happened. The said it was an error in my scripts somewhere, but i tod them it can't be as nothing was changed to make it break.

Ok, as there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for the current problem, ask you Hoster to restore a backup from before the problem occured. Will also tell you how good your Hoster is at providing backups.

Admin->Configuration->Sessions->Session Directory
It probably should be set to:
/home/ihgseing/public_html/cache

Further, your configure.php files need to have the proper path set as well. At the bottom of these files, you'll see a definition setting for DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE, which should be set the same as the Session Directory
