How do I set-up Product Downloads

Hello

I am having a heck of a time trying to set-up product downloads. Can someone refer to a thread (ive been looking all day for one and have not found one that helps) or give me the instructions on how to set-yp the product download. Thanks!

Here is an example, maybe i am just not understanding how to set it up. but it gives this window, only lets me download from if I select a file from the browse butting and then nothing downloads.

The website is in test mode right now... no CC processor is linked to it.

You don't want "file" as the type... that's for uploading files.

Use a radio button or pulldown.

You'll link files to the radio/pulldown option-name separately using the Attributes Controller.

option name manager:
option name = download
option type = radio button

Option Value manager:
choose the "download" option name from the dropdown and then type "zip file" in the option value text box, then hit insert

Attributes controller:
Select category, then select product. Under adding new attribute select the correct option name and value from the drop downs. Then in the attributes flag section change "Default Attribute to be Marked Selected:" to yes and leave the others alone. Next step is to input the filename of the download and set the expiry days and maximum download count. (Note: you should have already uploaded the file to the downloads directory.) Hit insert.

Then go to the downloads manager if the file is list there with the little green circle under filename then everything should work.

Thank you so much for all your help, we're on the home strech on getting this done. The last problem I am having with this is that it now downloads the file but only 1k of it, any idea whats going on?

where is Linda when you need her? How large is the file? If you replace the file with another named the same but smaller does it work? I am assuming the file is a .zip file right.

oh and you spelled "Download" wrong under option name

Are you hosting on Windows or Linux?
Do you have "Download by redirect" enabled or disabled?
Do you have "download by streaming" enabled or disabled?
