I saw some other discussions touching on this, but not quite what I need.
I sell greeting cards with a retail price of 3.25. They are taxable at 14% (near here), 6% elsewhere in Canada, and 0% outside of Canada. Zones have been set up carefully, following instructions found here.
When I set up a new product, I enter 3.25 in the Products Price (Net) field and the value 3.9 auto-magically shows up in the Products Price (Gross) field. Whether you multiply 3.25 by 1.14 or 1.06, you won't get 3.9. The proper amount (if this is supposed to be a preview of the tax-in amount) would be 3.71 or 3.45. So what is doing the calculation to yield 3.9?
Strangely, this 3.9 thing seems to have no effect on checkout. The correct amount of tax is being calculated there. So I could just ignore it. But I'm the sort of person who can't do that!!
Thanks
Rob
