    Default A few weird errors

    G'day Zen Community,

I am putting the finishing touches on www.headsonic.com.au

The site is showing a few weird errors:

    1) At time the Footer is not always loading
    2) Sometimes when clicking side product links (eg headphones) it loads a blank screen in the white area instead of a product list like normal (appears to happen 25% of the time).
    3) At times, it seems that the white area is pushed to the side at random (once again, about 25% of the time) (see image)

I am unsure if these are all possibly linked with something not loading entirely? I just performed a full upgrade of Zen - so I know every file is in there and fine. Any ideas?

THankyou for all the help- Alex

Sounds like you are on an overloaded Server. Traceroute shows the Server you are on is extremely slow -- at least from Canada which shouldn't really matter.

I would say that Timeouts are happening before the page can grab necessary info from your database. This would explain blank content and/or things in general not loading as they should.

If you do a traceroute from your computer to your site, look to see what the Ping times are. For me it shows in the 200+ range, which is why I say the Server is slow.

The Server is from Australia - might explain your slowness (sometimes when loading the hompage it doesnt even show recent products).

I ran a tracert and get about 21ms, by the time it reaches the server it is
    40,
    40,
    89,
    42,
    *,
    *(timeout) at 14th hop

As the 'huge screenshot was deleted' ill post the link, which is www.headsonic.com.au/example.jpg

Is there any way to tell if the server sql is over-loaded or if this is another bug?

    Hmm,

I just remembered I still have an older draft copy (headsonic.mediadiseno.com) uploaded which doesn't appear to be having these issues - can somebody please confirm. It's an older version - but these were happening before the update.

A slow server and a page size of near 700k is going to be a killer.

turn off the manufacturers sidebox for a minute ... does it fix it?

switch to Classic ... does it fix it?

turn on the manfactuers sidebox does it break it?

switch to your template ... does it break again?

An update - I turned the manufacturers box off and it is happening less frequently. It seems the mod I installed for HeadSonic was not compresing the images for him (I noticedone picture on the main page was 494 KB!). Safe to assume thats the problem?

Best way to test the speed:

Configuration > Logging: Display The Page Parse Time - true

Ideally, you want to see a Render Time of less than a second for both, Parse & Query Time.

Kim, can I ask where you got the output for "Global Statistics"?
