The menu option Catalog is my left most menu option. There is not a menu to the left of Catalog.
Menu accross the top is:
Catalog Modules Customers Locations/Taxes Localization Reports Tools Extra.
I have been reading several help topics and they refer to Configure and I think I am in the twilight zone.
thank you
1. Are you the primary administrator of your site?
2. Did you install this site yourself?
3. Do you have the Admin Profiles module installed?
4. What other contributions/addons/customizations have you installed?

I installed the module.
How do I know if I am an administrator?
How do I verify if the Admin modules is installed?
Depending on how it's installed, you'll normally see evidence of it in Admin->Tools->Admin Settings ... with a permissions link next to the edit/delete/reset buttons in the sidebox.
Further, you can see if the module is installed by comparing the module's files against the files on your site ... and see if the required changes have been implemented in your site's files.

I am an administrator.
Is there a good way to verify when you say "the admin module is installed"?
I have followed the step by step and don't want to do somthing drastic now.
I have not installed any mods.
I am the admin on the site.
I have no problem getting access to the ADmin panel.
I simply have no "configuration" menu when I get there. I posted under installation as this seems to have become more than a shipping problem.
How many people will be accessing your admin area?
If it's just you, why did you install the module ?

Forgive me that this goes on and on but what module are you asking me "why did I install it".
I am the only one accessing the admin area but it is the "configuration" menu that is missing. Shouldnt it be there for everyone.
I am completely lost at this point.
