problem searching products in Admin

Update:

I deleted a bunch of products (8000+) from my database and now only have 250. My search function in admin seems to be working, at least for the moment. Does anyone have an idea what this means? Is there some problem that prevents me from searching when I have too many products? I'd like to fix it so I can add products once again.

Altough the admin search function seems to be working for the most part, there is still at least 1 product in my db that doesn't come up when seached for altough it is definately there...

I have sites with 700,000 products and can search ...

There is something with that Product that it is not working ...

I'm having the same issue. My store has about 1500+ products, and I believe this cropped up when I updated to 1.3.6. Has anyone had any luck resolving this?

There has to be something related to Easy Populate and the problems that you are having ...

I cannot reproduce this error ...

What happens if you manually add a Product with something unique for the products_name and something unique for the products_description ...

Are you able to do a search and find this product?

Well, I do have Easy Populate installed...though I've never used it and am also pretty certain that it no longer works. Most of my products were added through phpmyadmin using hand-crafted mysql statements. This was because I actually converted from a Cubecart installation way back when.

If I just manually add a product it IS searchable through the admin area. The weird thing being that before the recent 1.3.6 update (or possibly 1.3.5) this was not a problem.

Makes me think you have bad records or bad data somewhere ...

Do you use Linked Products? Or do all Products belong to only 1 Category?

What version did you upgrade from?

Sorry for the delay...I do have a few linked products, only a handful though. It doesn't seem to be specific to one category.

The oldest version that I had was 1.3.0.2...from that I upgraded to 1.3.5, and finally to 1.3.6 (when I think the problem cropped up).

Products added via the normal method in the Admin do not reproduce the vanishing products on the search ...

As you can search for manually added products but not for products imported with Easy Populate ... I am suspecting something to do with Easy Populate ...

Let's try an experiment ...

The idea is to do a search for something that does not include the first or last word in a products_name ... as in if the products_name have 3 words in it, you would search for the second word ...

If you do a search for the 2nd word in a products_name that was added with Easy Populate can you find it?

Another test would be, if the products_name was: Hewlett

Search for: ewlet

If you do a search for a part of the products_name that was added with Easy Populate can you find it?
