I’d like to see if we can tweak the shipping on http://www.givecourage.net site.
Right now the shipping defaults to standard. Then, there is the paragraph that explains the 2-day, 3-day and overnight charges which doesn’t allow for the expedited shipping rates to actually show up on the order form, nor does it give the customer the absolute choice of picking this type of shipping other than writing a note in the comments box.
We are getting emails that people are confused and frustrated that they can’t actually choose the expedited shipping. Somehow I think they think that if they don’t choose it, it won’t get shipped…and, it’s causing extra emails and phone calls from customers that aren’t really necessary.
I’d like have the choices available under standard shipping:
No expedited Shipping
3-day express: add $12 to standard shipping
2-day express: add $17 to standard shipping
Overnight: add $25 to standard shipping
Then, once they check an individual box, the appropriate amount gets added to the shopping cart. So, when they check out, the standard shipping box would automatically be checked (that’s the base of shipping rates) then, if they check any of the other expedited boxes, the appropriate amount gets added.
I think perhaps the issue with this is that I we're not tied in directly with USPS or Fed Ex to determine the expedited rates. So, we can’t use the default expedited modules in Zen. But, I’m thinking that something ‘extra’ can be built to tie in to the cart. I’m sure this must be an issue with other folks. Perhaps Zen can shed some light?
