accepting credit cards question

I am setting up my payment page in the admin and I was just wondering if I need anything on my end to accept Visa and MC credit cards.

In other words, is the software (or whatever I need) included? Is there and back end stuff I need to do on my server? What if my server isn't a secure server? I am using a company called Lunarpages for my hosting. Does anyone know If they are secure or what I need to do?

Or should I just ONLY TAKE PAYPAL? I have heard that pay-pal assumes all security risks.

Zen Cart includes Authorize.net and PayPal. However, you need an account with either in order to process the transactions. There are many other contributed payment gateways available in the downloads section or via searching this forum. Check with your bank to see what is offered with your merchant account.
