Not all sideboxes showing

Hi folk,

I've gone into Tools/Layout Boxes Controller and set 8 sideboxes to show in the left column and none in the right column. I set the sort order as I wished, with no duplicates. I've made sure the column widths and so on are set right under Configuration/Layout Settings.

But I only see 7 of the 8 sideboxes on the main page and category pages: Tell A Friend is missing until I go to a product page. Is this normal and expected? I'd rather show all 8 boxes all the time.

While I'm asking, Featured Products show up in the sidebox, as I want, but also horizontally across the bottom of the home page. Where's the setting to disable that horizontal display?

Yes - tell a friend only shows up on product pages because it works only for specific products, so for it to show up on pages other then product pages it wouldn't know which product to tell the friend about.

to turn off featured products on your index page navigate to

configuration -> Index Listing -> Show Featured Products on Main Page Category with SubCategories
