I Sell Mostly One of a Kind Items

Hi,

First post here, and a complete newbie, so hope someone can give me a little help. I have a couple of questions.

1)How do I set the quantity box to only allow buyers to purchase only 1 of any particular item?

2)I have trouble understanding some of the setting terminology, eg.

0= off (I understand this)
1st digit Left or Right (but not this)
2nd and 3rd digit Sort Order (or this)
4th digit number of breaks after (or this)

First when adding/editing a Product:

Product Maximum: 1

Products Quantity Box Shows: No, Do not show Quantity Box

I think there is no tweaking or special setup here, just that you have to list each unique item, and it only sells once.
