Default Not sure if this is possible? (Directed toward devs/coders)

Okay, this is directed toward devs, more in specifically, Zen-Cart Devs.

I have a t-shirt company, and obviously, a limited amount of t-shirts. Is there a way that I could provide ONE stock amount, but apply it to different items.

I believe this would be a global stock/attribute? Not sure.

    Example:

Say I have 12 Large Black Shirts, 12 XL Black Shirts and 12 XL White Shirts

I add a product, and have the SAME attribute for every item.

    Custom Design 1
    |_Attributes: Shirt Color: Black,White (Only available shirts), Size: L, XL (Only available sizes w/ matched color)

There is a contrib that does this, but it's per item and doesn't effect all items when an item of that size/color is purchased.

So basically if someone buys 12 Black XL shirts, there will be no longer an option of XL shirts in Black. Or if someone bought 6 shirts, it'd only have 6 left.

If someone went to another product, it'd only have 6 XL shirts available in Black.

I'm not sure if I gave a good example, but hopefully it's good enough.

Attribute stock is not yet added to Zen Cart ... that should be in v1.4 ...

Well, wouldn't the stock be different for each item?

Because you apply attributes it gives a unique id to the attribute, doesn't it? If not, I could just make on myself. I've been doing PHP for about 6 years.

    Attribute Name: Color
    Values: Black, White
    Stock (Black): 12
    Size: XL

    Stock (White): 12
    Size: XL

No matter on what item, I want to subtract 1 from that Black XL stock, if the color Black and the size XL is chose. Is that a better explanation?

    What Linda is saying.....
the product = t-shirt (can track stock)
the attributes = black, white, large, x-large (CAN NOT TRACK STOCK)

tracking stock by the attributes of a product should be in version 1.4 of the cart

Yeah, I know. They have a contrib that does that, however, it doesn't work the way I'm trying to explain.

I need a GLOBAL stock basically. One that is subtracted from whenever the attributes match the logic.

Regardless of which product it is, it will subtract from the same stock location. The contrib that I have now, sets it so that it has stock per product, but that isn't how I am wanting it to work.

So, whether it's Item1, Item2, Item3, it'll subtract from the Global stock, having only a total of 12 t-shirts that are black and xl.

oh I see........looks like your gonna have to put that php knowledge to good use
I believe that when the stocks by attributes is added to the code it will still be by product not GLOBAL like your looking for.
    Happy coding

Bumping isn't one of them ...

What is it you want a suggestion on?

The code is not part of Zen Cart at this time ... it should be in v1.4 as I already stated ...

There is an add-on that attempts to manage this, whether it can work for you or not will depend on your products and how well that is written ...

The next option is you write it ...

The next option is you can post in the Commercial Help Wanted for a temporary solution to resolve this issue while you are waiting for Zen Cart to write this code ...

The best option is for you, and everyone else, to support Zen Cart so that we have more time and resources to write faster code ...

Is it possible to use the same attribute information for other items, or will they always be auto incremented?
