using 2 sites and 1 database??

HI,
Im wondering if its possible to run 2 websites from the same database?
The reason im asking is that i want to allow my customers to have an account on each website but have the websites as different business's.

Ideally i would like each website to show different products, this is where i think the problem will be.

any help on this would be very much appreciated.
