Restrict a Shipping/Payment Module for all but one customer

Hi everyone,

Every now and then I have people who would like to locally pick up their order and pay cash. I have created a "Local Pickup" account because most of these people either a) don't want to sign up or b) don't want to use a credit card/paypal. I would like for the local pickup account to have access two the "Store Pickup" shipping module, while nobody else does. Also, I would like to be able to choose "Check/Money Order" module and allow it again only for this customer. The reason for this is that I have seen competitors' employees or affiliates sign up, choose absolutely everything in the store, and check out with check/money order. Unfortunately theres no type of validation scheme set up for checks since its not electronic.

So, with that said, how would I go about doing this? Would it be one gigantic if statement on each of the modules I mentioned? (check/money order, store pickup) to where if the customer's ID = local pickup's ID, then show it.. if not.. don't show it?

You may want to look at the invoice payment module.

This module gives customers you nominate the option of paying on an invoice.

You may be able to transfer the same logic to a shipping module.

update on this:

the module worked BEAUTIFULLY, thank you very much! with a little bit of editing i got it to say cash instead of invoice, and look for the cash group instead of invoice group.

Regarding the shipping thing.. instead of installing a new module which restricted delivery to a single zip code.. I decided to go the route of a discount coupon which allows free shipping. It would probably look better on the receipt to say "Local Pickup" instead of something like "First Class Mail".. but since I'm the only one to see it right now I don't really care much about it. Plus.. if someone from my zipcode was to go through the checkout system and not know that I am in their same zip code.. they would see the local pickup option and would probably choose that instead of a shipping option. This way.. i don't have to worry about someone not paying for shipping (unless, of course, they figure out the code!)

if you're looking to just change the word "invoice" on the checkout screen to say something else, look inside this file:

includes/languages/english/modules/payment/invoice.php

change line 25 & 27 to suit your needs

If you're looking to actually change it so that in the admin panel when you define the custom group it has a different name.. go in this file:

includes/modules/payment/invoice.php

Line 54 reads: $invoice_prefix = "invoice";

change to whatever you'd like. I changed mine to say: $invoice_prefix = "local"; so anyone in the "local" group would be able to choose this option
