    Default "approval pending" ?????

    I made myself the first "customer" for my own cart.

    I filled out the registration form and got the "welcome" email etc...

    The funny thing is that I still cannot shop. YES I can now see the prices but it says "approval pending" and there is no "add to cart" button.

    As the administrator I never received any emails telling me I have a new customer etc... Am I supposed to approve something? How long will it say "approval pending" and what exactly is it pending?

    Aren't I supposed to be notified when a new person signs up?

    Help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Also FYI I typed "approval pending", "new customer", etc... into the search field and found nothing.

    I figured it out.
    On the main admin home page under new customers. Apparently each one needs to be manually approved by the administrator. Oddly enough I couldn't find any info about this anywhere in the forums. Hopefully this will also help someone else someday.

    search keywords: customer authorization, customer approval, customer has no cart option, customer cannot shop, approval, approval pending,

    Now I was just thinking it would be nice if I could get an email every time a new customer signs up. Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Been there, done that ... built into Zen Cart already ...

    Check the Configuration ... Email settings ...

    Set an email address and turn it on ...

    May I ask where in Email Settings I should do this? I have the client's email entered and they are not getting any emails about pending customers.

    In the Configuration ... E-Mail Options ...

    There are over a dozen emails that can be configured ...

    Note: many need both the email address added *and* then to turn it on ...

    OK so I am in Configurations then into Email Settings. Email address is entered there. Have send copy of confirmation email turned on as welll. What am I missing?
