    Default zencart URL

I would like to have my zen cart store appear in the address line of the browser without the word zen cart appearing there. Is there someway to take one of my spare domains and have it be only a zen cart and when the address is entered into the address line of the browser: ex: http://mydomain.com , that the zen cart would automatically open?

Can the zen cart folder be renamed and the cart still function correctly. I have some clients who wish to have only a zencart and not a website. I see them on the web but don't know how to do it. I have another client who wants their existing website redirected to their zen cart but it be transparent to the view in the browser address line.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Bop

    best way,
move your store up one level,
    then modify the configure.php files
    located in includes and admin/includes

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by "move your store up one level" When I look at my server's control panel the first thing I see is a list of my domains and a few files. I click on my domain and it opens up a window of folders relating to that domain. Zencart is located there. Is this an example of levels?

Would all the define (' ...') items in the configure.php have to be changed? and to what?

Sorry I'm so dense about this.

    Ignore me,
    I should have read closer,
I thought you were getting zencart in the address bar ( like www.yoursite.com/zencart)

    I am getting www.yoursite.com/zencart

Thats what I'm trying to get rid of. I don't want zencart to show in the address bar.

Then you need to do what Merlin suggested. Move the entire contents of your zencart folder to the root folder of your site. If you have an index.php page there now or any other pages or folders with identical names, they will be overwritten. This will also make the cart your home page. If that is not what you want, then you can just rename the folder to cart, store, shop or whatever else you want to call it, but you MUST also update your config files for the cart and the admin section to point to the correct newly named folders.

    I forgot one thing...
Most servers are configured to show index pages in a particular order. This means you can have index.html index.htm index.php etc.... all in the same folder and all can still be viewed by your browser. Only one can be your home page, however. That means that, depending on your server, your index.html page will come up when you type www.yoursite.com so you can still have a separate home page. Not many servers are listing index.php as the first option for home pages, yet......

Thanks so much Ripper. I finally get now what Merlyn meant. Your solution will work perfectly for me. I hope in the future I'll know enough to help some others with questions.

Thanks to you too Merlyn. I just wasn't clear on what level meant for sure.
