GETTING RID OF THIS: l_ (subcategory related)

I made a category with various subcategories. For example:

Jackets >
l_mens
l_womens

is there any way to get rid of that "l_" that preceeds every line?

admin > config > layout settings > Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories > |_ 

The pipe(vertical bar) and the underline can be changed to what you prefer the   is a space and you can add additional spaces if this makes it look better.
