    Default Overriding header.php file

There is a very simple article titled "How do I change the 'Sales Message Goes Here' or 'Tagline Here' text?"

I've re-read the article numerous times and repeatedly started over from scratch. I expect it to work smoothly, but it doesn't. The "classic" version of header.php is loading. When I change name of "classic" to "classicX", the application loads values from the "core" version, ignoring "custom" version.

I am running v. 1.3.6 and my host is Crystal Tech. This is my first attempt at customization, so I could be missing something.

    Thank you for any help.

Did you read and institute the the Custom Template Override?

For your 'custom' version, best to just call it 'custom' or something else. Leave out using 'classic' within your Template name.

I don't find an article named "Custom Template Override" on the page you sent, but I have read "Understanding the Override System." I'm getting the glimmer of a suggestion that, if I have an override folder, the name has to correspond to the name of the custom template set in Admin>Tools>Template Selection; is that true?

I only renamed classic to classicX in order to find out what the application would do. It doesn't find my custom folder, using the core files instead.

After uploading / setting up your custom Template, you need to make a change in the 'Layout Boxes Controller'.

    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=142 (page bottom)
"Open your Admin panel and navigate to tools -> template selection. Click the Edit button, then choose CUSTOM from the dropdown menu and click the Update button. Now, navigate to tools -> layout boxes controller and at the bottom of the page click the Reset button.

Your new template is now enabled and ready for you to customize."

    Reply to Kim:

Article 142, "How do I create a new Custom Template?" tells me that there are several steps to creating a custom template, including defining the name of the CUSTOM template.

Article 127, "How do I change the "Sales Message Goes Here" or "Tagline Here" text?", doesn't say anything about setting up a CUSTOM template first.

I'm getting the idea that Article 142 needs to be followed before Article 127 will work. Maybe Article 127 needs revision.
