Purchase without registration?

The site I'm setting up with Zen Cart has only one product. Because the site only sells a single item, there's really no need for the person to become a 'member' in order to buy. We just want to have them fill the cart as a 'visitor', then supply their name and address for shipping calculations and kick to PayPal for the charge.

Is it possible to run ZenCart without a 'password' requirement for purchasers? We want to collect their contact info, but they don't really need to be able to log back in for anything in the future...

The simple answer is no. An Account Optional may be added in a future release.

if its just for one item and its through PayPal.. why not set up a "Buy Now" button for it, and charge a flat rate shipping fee? I know PayPal can also calculate the shipping for you as well.. so theres no need for a full e-commerce solution if you're just selling one product and its through PayPal. You could design a really good looking 5 or 6 page website around that product, have a contact us form and all that stuff if its absolutely necessary

My apologies for the double-post... they were separate questions, although related to the same issue. I first wanted to know about disabling the 'password' but after deciding that I'd go ahead even with the password in place, I wanted to know about removing the cart feature. Probably should have replied in the same thread, but I didn't think it was really a continuation of the same question.

In any case, I think I've convinced my client of the value of the registration, and I'm going to alter the registration form to put the 'returning users' block at the bottom instead of the top. That should work well enough for him. I've spent too much of my time and his money on configuring ZenCart to switch to a new system now :) And as for PayPal, I think it smacks of cheap when I go to buy from a site that hasn't put any time into making its own purchasing process... I'll stick with Zen for now.
